From the Christ Church congregation in Blaine - We will pray for you daily, with special prayers on Sundays, as you go through this Exodus journey. May you know the presence of the Holy Spirit at this time, and gain strength from each other and our wider church community.

A friend of my here at St Paul's sent this to me last year at a very critical time in my life. I share these words with all of you at St. James.
"To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. Concentrate on this sentence.....The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."
Peace be with you.

As one who values our stewardship of the wonderful older "houses of worship," I wish to assure you of our prayerful support. These buildings are more than the physical components. They have a warmth that comes from the care taken by previous generations of worshipers as well as the reverance instilled by the architecture and crafsmanship.

Please know that you and your ministries are in our prayers during this time in your parish life.

Prayerfully,
Bill Findley
Parish Warden, St. Paul's, Bellingham

We share your sorrow at leaving your beautiful old sanctuary. Have courage and trust that the Holy Spirit is moving among you, guiding you as you move forward together and vision the future of the St. James community. Words of comfort from one of my favorite psalms (139), "Lord you have searched me out and known me...you press upon me behind and before and lay your hand upon me. " The psalm is a reminder that you are surrounded by God's presence, now, in your past, and in your future. With thanksgiving and love as you continue your journey and sing a new song, Diane Ramerman, Pastoral Leader, Christ Church

Dear fellow Christians, Episcopalians, Komo Kulshan Cluster Partners at St. James: Our hearts and prayers are with you in this time of transition. There is so much pain and loss associated with the closing of your building; weddings, funerals and baptisms that were part of your history. Looking at Jesus journey this is where he found God in those struggles with us. Knowing the strength of so many of you, knowing your faith in God and your support for each other, I hope you find comfort in Him that this opportunity could deepen your faith, draw you closer, and will bring all of us closer to you. Know that we grieve with you and look to God for His guidance. We pray that you will hear and feel the Holy Spirit in your thoughts, prayers and actions. In His Spirit, Betty Anne McCoy, Cluster Council Chair

To the people of St. James,

Your situation reminds me of the many conversations I have had about the challenges of caring for an older church building. So many of us share these difficulties. Your present burden out ways all of the situations I know about. Know that your neighbors in Bellingham are holding you in their prayers. I too applaud your efforts to save your church home.

On behalf of myself and the vestry of St. Paul's, Bellingham, I express to you the people of St. James' Church our sympathy and concern for you at this time of transition in your common life. We enjoy having a historic and beautiful house of worship, and we can imagine what it would be like to suddenly be without it.

I'm praying that in this time you experience deep consolation in the power of the Gospel, and discover great resources in the proclamation of it and the living of it. We can all hope for a happy outcome for all these troubles. I'm also thankful for the welcome you've received from other Christian congregations in the area.

God be with you.

Dear Members of St. James

On behalf of the congregation and Bishop's Committee of Christ Church, we wish for you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
We recognize a time of transition and discernment for you and also feel your grief in having to leave your "house"of worship--which we think of as our safe place and our home. We are happy for your welcome from your Methodist neighbors in sharing there "home" with you. We want you to know we wish to help you in any way we can--we are all together in the Komo Kulshan Cluster.
